Indonesia Seeks to Reduce Dependence on Vaccines from Abroad – Berita Terkini

JAKARTA – The Indonesian government continues to strive to meet the needs of the Covid-19 vaccine. In line with that, Indonesia is also trying to reduce dependence on the need for vaccines from abroad cointries and encourage domestic vaccine production.

According to the Spokesperson of the Covid-19 Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, this needs to be done in view of India’s embargo on vaccines due to the soaring Covid-19 cases. And PT Bio Farma will continue to increase the production capacity of Sinovac vaccines to reach 25 million doses.

“With the increase in vaccine production capacity, domestic vaccine needs will be achieved,” Wiku answering media questions in an International Media Briefing, Tuesday (4/14/2021) broadcast on the BNPB Indonesia YouTube channel.

The government also continues to accelerate domestic vaccine development. Simultaneously, the government also continues to disseminate information to the public about the importance of vaccines to protect people from Covid-19 virus. And so far the government has provided 13.6 million vaccines to the people of Indonesia.

The government also continues to ensure that the vaccination program continues to run well so that the community can be protected. Therefore, the government continues to fulfill the need for vaccines through cooperation schemes with a number of countries in the world. It also opens opportunities for the private sector to participate in the Gotong Royong Vaccine program, which registration has closed up to stage 2 by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN).

“The enthusiasm is quite high from participating companies. And the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, or KADIN is planning to reopen registration for the third phase,” continued Wiku.

The government is currently finalizing preparations for the implementation of the Gotong Royong vaccine. Meanwhile, the private companies are ready to implement it, and are waiting for certainty on the import of vaccines by PT Bio Farma.
